Fotolanthropy Update – A Soldier’s Story

Late last week we found out Fotolanthropy is going to have the opportunity to capture the story of United States Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills. For those of you not familiar with his story, Travis lost parts of all four limbs after stepping on an IED while on his third tour in Afghanistan in early April. Travis is one of only four people who have fought in Iraq or Afghanistan to survive this type of injury.

We were immediately captivated and extremely humbled by Travis’s attitude. Despite having to cope with unimaginable changes to his mobility, and a young wife and new baby daughter at home, Travis has the most amazing, positive attitude. We can not wait to share his story. Especially during this election season when there is such incredible tension and divisiveness in our country, we know this story is going to serve as a reminder of what a truly blessed country we live in and the young men and women who risks their lives daily on our behalf.

Please keep the Fotolanthropy team in your prayers this following week. Jon, and friend at Four Story Creative – Brian, will be heading to North Carolina next week. Praying for cooperative weather and just an enjoyable and meaningful time for all. In the mean time, you can learn more about Travis’s story by visiting his website – just click on the photo below.

How to stay updated on Facebook . . .

Facebook keeps getting more whack. It ain’t broke and they keep trying to fix it. It’s like when you try to work on a craft project and you’re not fully amazed with it so you think “I’ll make just a small tweak here. Oh wait, now it needs just a little more here. And just a smidge adjusted here . . .” and next thing you know you’re throwing it on the ground, stomping on it and screaming. Apparently these are the things they teach you at Harvard . . .

Instead of seeing updates from small folk like us and other fan pages you “like”, Facebook cowered in the corner when their investors got ticked and decided you should instead see the posts from places like Walmart, Target and McDonalds . . .because you don’t see enough of their ads elsewhere. I mean, how else would these businesses possibly survive if they can’t control Facebook too??? *sad face*

Now, we love y’all, we really do – so no offense, . . . but Jon and I would much rather go shopping than pay Facebook to “promote” our posts . . .which apparently means that Facebook is only going to tell, like, 3 of y’all about our most recent video. Oh SNAP!!

We realize that our videos are vital to your everyday living, and you watch them to help take your mind to that happy place after your boss gets done yelling at you or your child draws on the wall with a Sharpie marker or you’re so sick of wedding planning you might go insane or you just need a reminder that true love really does exist.

SOOOOO . . .below is what you have to do to stay updated with ALL our Facebook posts. We’re sure you’ve seen this message a million times already from other pages you “like”. Frankly, if you actually follow all those steps and make “interest lists” (????) to stay up to date with us, we should be paying YOU instead of Facebook because all that below is all sorts of ridiculous. Dorothy had an easier time getting back to Kansas than we’re going to have trying to stay up to date with all our photographer and videographer friends. But alas, we pass it along for those of you who are interested . . .

ATTENTION FANS! Facebook now requires page administrators to pay to promote their updates if we want our content to be seen by our fans. If we do not pay to promote our posts, only about 10% of the fans actually receive the updates in their Facebook home page feed.

To keep RECEIVING ALL POSTS FROM US you have to hover the mouse on the “Like” button near our name. In the drop-down menu select “ADD TO INTEREST LISTS”, and then create an interest list (and make a name for your favorite sites). When you select that interest list you will see ALL of our posts and you won’t miss anything important!

We recommend that you follow the above instructions for ANY Facebook page you care about, so you can continue seeing all the posts from the pages you love.

Thanks for your help, and please share this with your friends!

Ok . . so maybe it’s not rocket science, but seriously . . .

Taylor & JB – Sneak Peek | Jonathon Link Studios | Fort Worth Wedding Videographer

Dallas Wedding Videographer, Dallas Wedding Videography, Dallas Wedding Cinematographer, Dallas Wedding Cinematography, Dallas Wedding Films, Fort Worth Wedding Videographer, Fort Worth Wedding Videography, Fort Worth Wedding Cinematographer, Fort Worth Wedding Films, Fort Worth Wedding Cinematography, Best Dallas Wedding Videographer, Best Dallas Wedding Videography, Best Fort Worth Wedding Videographer, Best Fort Worth Wedding VideographySometimes I just can’t help myself: when I see cute pictures or read a cute story, it’s hard for me not to want to film the wedding. I stumbled on Taylor and JB’s wedding website and I just fell in love with the two of them. I showed their website to Jon, worked my puppy eyes and asked if we could offer to do their wedding . .on his birthday. Being the sweet husband that he is, Jon said yes, so I contacted Taylor – hoping I wouldn’t sound like a creepy stalker – and asked if they would be interested in having us film their wedding.

I’m so glad they said yes – their wedding was so special. Taylor and JB met in high school on a missions trip and the rest is history. They’re both old souls and as their pastor said, their understanding of what it truly takes for a relationship to last extends far beyond most people their age. The vows that they wrote for each other are things they’ve already been doing for years.

God bless Taylor’s dad! It’s hard enough trying to get our house ready for my parents to come into town. I can’t imagine trying to prep our house and backyard for an entire wedding day. He was working so hard the day of the wedding to help all the vendors secure their spots in the backyard, direct people where to park, sign papers, deal with the neighbor’s unexpectedly draining their pool into their yard the morning of the wedding (!!!) and still get ready. He had so much going on, but everything turned out beautifully.

– Kristin

You can check out some of Braeden’s (of Ambient 11) awesome photos from JB & Taylor’s wedding here. Braden is a super class act and so easy to get along with – you should definitely check him out if you’re looking for a photographer.

Lauren & Eric – Sneak Peek | Jonathon Link Studios | Dallas Wedding Videographer

You know you’re staying in a pretty swank hotel suite when Coldplay was in it the night before. It was a fun, relaxing setting for all of Lauren’s bridal prep.

This was our first time shooting at Highland Park UMC. The exterior of the church is beautiful and the courtyard area is just perfect for pictures. Everything about Lauren & Eric’s wedding was very classy, but not too serious. Photographer Jenny Martell did a great job of playing off this vibe of Lauren & Eric’s wedding party. She took some stunning formal portraits, but mixed it up with lots of fun shots too. We loved the bridesmaids all under the Lauren’s veil.

The real party started back at Hotel ZaZa for the reception. Lauren & Eric seemed more quiet for most of the day, but we had a feeling we’d really get to see their personalities come out later that evening. Lauren’s uncle did all the floral – which was amazing: gorgeous, huge centerpieces of various cream and blush roses. After guests snacked on a fun buffet of delicious sliders, fried and other fun foods the dancing started . . . and it didn’t stop until Eric and Lauren left.

Lisa Prude - This is one of the best things we did, get Jonathan to be our videographer. I held back my tears at the wedding but when I saw this I could not stop the tears of joy that I had for watching my daughter marry the man of her life. Thank you so much to your entire staff. We love you

Kristin - Oh wow – thank you so much Lisa. That really means a lot. Glad they asked us to be a part of their day. It was beautiful and we had a lots of fun – can’t wait to put together the reception 🙂

Taylor & Robert – Sneak Peek | Jonathon Link Studios | Dallas Wedding Videographer

Barbie and Ken only WISH they could look as awesome as these two. But if that wasn’t enough, they also have kindness, humility and faith that blows their Tom Ford and Christian Louboutin-filled closet out of the water. Yeah, some people have all the luck.

We were so excited to shoot at the Majestic, largely in part because we also got married at a theater. It was so fun to film a wedding whose setting reminded us so much of our own. Taylor and Robert opted to forgo crazy florals and decorations in favor the charm of the theater and inviting as many friends as possible (and trust us, between these two there are A LOT of friends!). Guests snacked on Italia Express, Chick-fil-A and In-n-Out Burger for dinner (um . .YEAH!) and the dance party pretty much started immediately.

We can only imagine what the future holds for these two – Taylor is currently working on all things singing and Robert is preaching all over the globe. Expect BIG things (and extremely cute and fashionably-dressed babies).

If you didn’t get a chance to see Robert and Taylor’s amazing engagement photos from both Matthew Moore and Taylor’s sister, Meshali Mitchell, you can check them out here and here. Meshali had maid-of-honor duties this time around so Matt & Katie Moore rocked the wedding day photography. We absolutely CAN NOT WAIT to see the photos they took – because we know they are going to blow minds. We do not exaggerate – seriously, if you don’t have a photographer you need to call them, like as in yesterday! (Because one day Matt is going to be shooting Vogue and you’re only going to be shooting yourself in the foot because you didn’t call him to shoot your wedding! SHOOT!)
