Paola & Tim – Engagement Photoshoot

We were excited to finally have a chance to meet him and whenever we know we’re going to be working with our good pal Meshali Mitchell, our arms don’t need much twistin’.

Tim & Paola chose to do their shoot in Rockett, Texas. It’s one of those cute, little towns you can basically fit in the palm of your hand – a few stop signs, a small white chapel, and a cafe – all of which we did stop at. We would definitely recommend the Rockett Cafe – it’s well worth the drive!

It was just under 100 degrees during our shoot, but Tim & Paola did great – even when we made Tim get into his WOOL uniform. Praying for Tim as he heads back overseas again and looking forward to their wedding in next spring.

Wedding Videography – “You’ll Never Watch It.”

A couple days ago I spoke with one of our brides whose wedding video we’re in the process of finishing up. She had recently received her wedding photos and we chatted a little about the whole wedding planning process – all the work that goes into researching and choosing vendors, and the important tasks you’re entrusting those people with on your big day. At one point in the conversation she said to me: “You know, we waited until the last minute to hire a videographer because a lot of my friends told me I’d never watch it.”

Then (much to my relief) she said, referring to their sneak peeks we’ve posted online, “[My husband] and I watch our videos ALL the time!”

I don’t mention this conversation to toot our own horn. I’ve just heard that statement so many times in reference to wedding videography – “You’ll never watch it.” People have said it to their friends while walking past our booth at bridal shows. Other wedding vendors have told brides and grooms this. And I even said it MYSELF – multiple times – during the process of planning our own wedding.

People who’ve made the above statement have no ill intentions and aren’t even neccessarly wrong. They’re just missing the first part of the sentence. Like photography, wedding videography is an investment and often – you get what you pay for. IF you [don’t do your research, go cheap, wait until the last minute] . . .then, yes, chances are ” . . you’ll never watch it.”

Our ultimate goal is not necessarily to have couples choose US for their wedding videography, just to choose WELL. Of course we love when couples choose Jonathon Link Studios but everyone has different styles and tastes. This is why we always provide couples with other recommendations when we are unavailable or they may be looking for a style entirely different than ours. Like photography, a lot of people just don’t understand all the technicalities that go along with shooting and editing video; which makes it difficult for couples when choosing wedding videography.

Every couple has different things that are most-important to them for their wedding. Some people have dreamed of flowers everywhere you look, some brides are willing to spare no expense when it comes to that one special dress, and other couples know for sure they want the best DJ in town . . and some want ALL of these 🙂 But whatever your priorities are – it makes no sense to pull out all the stops your budget allows and then skimp on the way they are captured. If videography is last on your list of priorities, especially budget-wise, then you really should just save yourself the money and invest it into your photography. I don’t say that to be sarcastic, it’s just simply the truth. Your video will get lost in a box in the back of the attic, and you’ll be left wondering why you even spent the money on it at all.

At Jonathon Link Studios, we’re always happy to answer any questions couples have, whether they are specific to our business or wedding videography as a whole. There are so many great videography teams out there, and if you’re willing to make the investment, your wedding video will not only be something you WILL value and WILL watch but something you’ll want to share with others!

Anoop & Betty – Sneak Peek | Jonathon Link Studios | Dallas Wedding Videographer

It is easy to see why both of them have so many deep friendships – they are the kind of people you would laugh the hardest with but also deeply confide in. And their relationship with each other is the same. They laugh a lot and aren’t afraid to poke fun at themselves or each other. But underneath all that is a deep understanding of who the other person is and who he/she aspires to be. I love Anoop’s reaction when he sees Betty coming down the aisle. He sighs, but not in a nervous way. It’s like he is relieved – he hasn’t seen his best friend all day but now she is finally here.

Christopher - Oh I have been waiting for this. It’s funny being there the whole time, but still seeing it totally different in the way you guys captured it. Awesome job!!!

Ron & Beth – Reception Highlight | Jonathon Link Studios | Fort Worth Wedding Videographer

But the moment this song started playing at Ron & Beth’s reception, the entire mood of the dance floor changed; and when we caught Beth and her friends belting out every word as they danced, we knew this was the song we had to use.

Ron & Beth’s reception had some of the most entertaining dancing we’ve ever seen. This highlight is merely the tip of the iceberg. And as you’ll see, Ron & Beth knew just how to start the party off. They put all other first dances to shame.

Andy & Jordan – Sneak Peek | Jonathon Link Studios | Dallas Wedding Videographer

Some couples take advantage of that – not in a bad way – just the chance to enjoy the one day in life that really is all about you. However, and we don’t really know how to explain it, but you could just tell that Andy & Jordan were not focused on being the center of attention on their wedding day. Jordan looked gorgeous, but she still looked like Jordan. Andy was in a tuxedo and dress shoes, but he was joking around with his buds just as we would imagine him doing at someone’s house on a Friday night. It was like the both of them were just hangin’ out, like they always do, except they were a little more dressed up. It was very obvious that for them the most important thing was having all of their family and friends in one room to have a great time and celebrate what the day meant. (And they did not disappoint – the dance floor was packed until the moment the DJ kicked everyone out so Andy & Jordan could share a final dance together.)

We had the privilege to work with photographer Katie Norris on this wedding, and we couldn’t be more excited our paths happened to cross. It’s so nice to meet other vendors who have a vision for using their talents beyond just their business. Be sure to check out Katie’s new venture – Fotolanthropy – and pray for Katie and her team as they begin to shape this new avenue of Katie Norris Portrait Arts.

I (Kristin) think I’ve watched too much TLC in the past, because – prior to starting Jonathon Link Studios – my vision of a wedding planner was this over-the-top, frantic and frazzled individual. And while I’m sure trying to make the best day of someone’s life nothing short of perfect would be enough to make ANY of us over-the-top, frantic and frazzled, I really have yet to meet a planner who comes even remotely close to this description. Chrissie Stuntz was the sweetest, most laid-back planner I’ve met so far. Andy & Jordan’s day was so beautiful, but Chrissie made it seem so effortless. She just floated around throughout the day, making sure everything was happening when it needed to and was always giving us a heads up on what was coming next. We enjoyed working with her so much and would definitely recommend giving her a call if you’re looking for or considering a wedding planner.
