Brooke & Colby – Sneak Peek | Jonathon Link Studios | Fort Worth Wedding Videographer

And to be quite honest – with the exception of the summer temperatures, the occasional “y’all” or “fixin'”, and the Fort Worth Stockyard – it’s sometimes easy to forget we’re in a different state. But at Brooke and Colby’s wedding there was absolutely no doubt – we ARE in Texas!

Picture the following . . .
Of course, as a vendor, you want to be dressed professionally at every wedding. Jon put on his usual outfit that day: nice dress slacks, a freshly-pressed dress shirt, and black dress shoes. We arrive at the venue and film the bride’s details before heading over to the groom’s room. After shooting the bride’s dress and shoes, Jon heads over to the guys. He knocks on the door, slowly opens it and four sets of eyes slowly shift from a tv over to Jon. All four of these guys are sitting in chairs, beer in hand, in shirts, jeans and boots, and cowboy hats hanging on the wall – and in creeps Jon in his Sunday best. Jon says: “Hi, I’m the videographer.” They give him a quick once-over and shift their eyes back to the television set.

We may have looked like fish out of water, but Jon and I really enjoyed Brooke and Colby’s wedding day. It was so relaxed and it was such a fun contrast to a lot of the other weddings we’ve done. The sun hid behind the clouds just long enough to keep things cool for their outdoor ceremony. The reception was exactly what I would expect for a true, genuine Texas wedding. Brooke and Colby had a live country band and people were out there being twirled and twisted all over the place all night, and all the kids were jumping around, just having a blast. They definitely don’t teach us to dance like that in Wisconsin!

Sarah & Ryan – Highlight | Jonathon Link Studios | Dallas Wedding Videographer

They dated for a while, but they eventually decided to part ways. Although they cared deeply for one another, they just felt they weren’t right for each other. So they went their separate ways and moved on with their lives.

Little did they know they would one day be walking down the aisle together. At our initial consultation, it was so sweet to hear Ryan tell us about his feelings during this time period. He said he just continued to find himself thinking about Sarah more and more. Finally, he realized so certainly that Sarah was “the One” and was determined to do whatever he could to prove his love for her. Friends of Sarah and Ryan will tell you that this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the powerful story that is their relationship.

The weather was beautiful for their wedding day at the Atrium in Garland. Sarah and Ryan didn’t want to do a first look but they did want to pray with each other before the ceremony. I think in the midst of all the hustle and bustle of the wedding day, Ryan forgot about this. As the photographer signaled him over to the wall outside at the corner of the Atrium and grabbed his hand to place it into Sarah’s, he had a very quizzical look on his face – until he felt Sarah’s hand in his and remembered. It was one of our favorite moments of the day.

Paola was back in Fort Worth, trying to work on all things “wedding”, and Tim told us he was trying to help out in any way he could. We were fortunate to tag along for Tim & Paola’s engagement shoot last year with Meshali Mitchell Photography (you can check to Tim & Paola’s fusion slideshow here), so we were looking forward to their wedding for some time. At the engagement shoot, Paola gave me a big stack of postcards – from all over the world – that Tim had sent to her throughout their relationship. Each one had a sweet little note or simply a silly picture Tim had added his own creative touch to. All those postcards were such a beautiful visual of their love for one another.

You may recall that particular Saturday this March when it just rained . . .and rained. . . and rained. But despite the dreary weather outside, Tim and Paola’s wedding was so fun and full of laughs. We love this song because it feels so relaxing and peaceful – which is about how we would describe Tim and Paola. Yet, they also share this playful silliness, which is why we wanted included a short snippet of their vows. Tim also promised to always laugh at Paola’s “T-Rex” impression, which she also promised to do as long as she was able. (We don’t recall the “T-Rex” making an appearance at the wedding, but we may require a performance before we hand over their film.)

Introducing . . . .FOTO

Just in case you thought we fell off the face of the earth – nope, we’re still here. We’ve had a lot going on behind the scenes – some of it personal (like Kristin running over a giant semi tire at 70mph in our tiny BMW) and some of it professional, which we are excited to share some of below!

Many of you may already be aware of our work with Fotolanthropy and photographer Katie Norris. Our film work with Fotolanthropy has been such an amazing experience and it continues to challenge us in the way we approach each wedding we film. If you would like more information on Fotolanthropy or to view the most recent story, please visit www.fotolanthropy.com

Katie knew right away she didn’t want to have to rely on donations alone to fund Fotolanthropy, especially in the current economy. When Katie told us she wanted to design camera straps, we were so excited. In general, camera straps are not hard to come by – you can find them everywhere from specialty local camera shops to Etsy. But one thing we all commented on was the lack of stylish, but classic camera straps. Much of what we saw in stores was either your typical, basic black, long-wear strap or bright-colored straps with crazy patterns. Both of these are great, but Katie’s vision was something a little more in between, a little more basic yet still stylish.

We are excited to introduce FOTOstrap. FOTOstrap currently comes in seven colors, as well as a luxury all-leather version in honor of James – the very first Fotolanthropy story. FOTOstraps can also be monogrammed with your initials, name or even your business logo! Proceeds from Fotostrap will be used to fund future Fotolanthropy stories and to create more FOTO products. Click here to see the entire FOTOstrap collection and learn more about FOTOstrap. You can also visit the FOTOstrap Facebook page to see images from our fun photoshoot (you may even catch Jon trying to work his “Blue Steel”.) To celebrate FOTOstrap’s launch, one lucky person will win a free Fotostrap. Click here to enter.

Courtney & Kenneth – Sneak Peek | Jonathon Link Studios | Dallas Wedding Videographer

We had filmed his sister’s wedding a year ago and we learned that while the Petersons are all 100% sweet, they also know how to have a good time and make you laugh. It was so nice to see them again.

When you first meet them, Kenneth and Courtney seem to have very different personalities. Kenneth is very gentle and very soft-spoken. Courtney is definitely the ball of energy and laughs. But hearing all the wonderful things said about the both of them by their friends and family, they also have a very similar heart to help others. We can tell Kenneth is very well trusted by his close friends and Courtney is the person you’d always go to to cheer you up on a bad day.

Their wedding day was simple and classic. The ceremony at Royal Lane Baptist was beautiful, followed by a fun reception at The Room on Main.

We had a chance to shoot with Andrea Crosswhite for the first time – super sweet and takes gorgeous, classic photos. – www.crosswhitephotography.com
