I have been wanting to do a baby film for quite some time, but I wasn’t sure if it would be something people would be interested in or if they would just find the whole concept silly and a waste of time. I knew there was plenty of sentimental value to a baby film but I was reluctant to approach anyone, knowing most soon-to-be-partents are much more concerned with the realities of acquiring cribs, strollers, car seats and carriers.
Then I received a phone call from someone attending a baby shower and she wanted to give the mom-to-be, Kalee, the gift of film. Kalee really wanted something that would tell Ellie (and her future siblings) what Kalee and her husband, Brandon, were like before they entered the world of parenthood – how they met, what their wedding day was like, what they enjoyed doing together and what they were looking forward to about becoming parents.
The idea of this type of family film might seem a little over-the-top on the surface – having a camera crew come into your house to interview you and wandering around the park with you. But haven’t you ever wondered what your parents were like before they became parents? I’m sure you’ve seen pictures or heard stories from them or others, but what a fun film to be able to watch your parents tell their story before you were born. I can’t wait for Ellie to watch this someday and see how much her parents loved each other and just how excited they were to meet her.
Thank you Brandon and Kalee for trusting us with your story and working with us – even when your neighbors were peering out their front doors, wondering what the heck we were doing 😉 And for letting us sneak in a few moments in the midst of the tiring first days of a new baby in your home. This experience was so special to me, and Ellie is one very lucky little girl. We hope you cherish this for years to come. – Kristin
